Mildred is a humanitarian and community development enthusiast passionate about youth, women, and community empowerment. She loves working with different communities and loves learning new languages and culture while making meaningful connections. Mildred comes with 8 years experience working in international development and humanitarian sector. In the past, Mildred has worked with women entreprenurs as a Business Coach with Graca Machel Trust where she supported women entreprenuers to implement business competencies under the Women Creating Wealth (WCW) flagship entrepreneurship programme. From there, she has worked with organizations like CorpsAfrica where she managed and facilitated community- led projects and initiatives on girls empowerment, youth and HIV/Aids, menstrual health, sanitation and agriculture in the rural areas of Kasungu, Bango village (Malawi), and in Rutsiro District, Kaziramihunda village (Rwanda). Her notable project is the Farmers’ Equipment Library which she implemented with farmers in Kaziramihunda village in Rwanda. As a YALI alumni (2018), Mildred was trained in Civic Leadership, and has also held a regional role as a committee member for the Commonwealth Youth Council- Civic Engagement for Southern Africa in additional to being named as African Union Youth Charter Champion (2020- 2022). Mildred holds a Master’s Degree in International Cooperation, specializing in Humanitarian Action and Project Management from the University of Pavia in Italy. She also has a Bachelor’s Degree in Humanities (Philosophy) obtained from the University of Malawi- Chancellor College, and is studying towards MBA. Currently, Mildred is working with the WHO African Regional office in Congo Brazzaville supporting the health intelligence and Risk Assessment unit on M&E and Information Products. Mildred aspires to continue contributing to creating a fairer society where people are recognized for the value they add to themselves and their communities.
