SALOME CHIBWANA is a Social Scientist with over five years’ experience in management of public health interventions by ensuring appropriate intervention targets are set, tracked, and met whilst ensuring effectiveness in project implementation. She has great interpersonal skills and experience working with diverse teams in government, nongovernmental and research settings. She is a dedicated and goal-oriented individual.

Ms. Chibwana has supported the monitoring and evaluation of Malawi’s COVID-19 response funded by the World Bank working with government officials in the Public Health Institute of Malawi. She has also supported HIV and AIDS data management for the Centers for Disease Control funded Electronic Medical Records Management Systems (EMRS) under Baobab Health Trust. Additionally, Ms. Chibwana has worked on advocacy efforts for the rights of people living with HIV under the Malawi Network of People Living with HIV. In addition to her experience in the public health sector, Ms. Chibwana has experience in strategic management having supported the localization of the Sustainable Development Goals as a Young Professional Officer under UNDP Malawi. 

Beyond her work in the health sector, Ms. Chibwana is passionate about education of the girl child. She is dedicated to broadening access to education both at secondary and tertiary level by reducing barriers to access through financial support and information support. Through her personal life story, she believes that education has one of the greatest potentials in changing personal trajectories and achieving generational change. Her personal dedication to ensuring access to education for girls has enabled underprivileged girls to access and/or complete secondary schooling and access tertiary education. Ms. Chibwana is keen to combine her project management experience and passion for education in her role as a board member of Loving Arms Malawi to help empower young girls to pursue educational and professional opportunities. 

Ms. Chibwana holds an MSc. in International Health from Ruprecht Karls Universität Heidelberg, Germany. She also holds an MA in Economics and a Bachelor of Social Science from the University of Malawi, Malawi. She is currently pursuing a PhD in Clinical Brain Sciences with the University of Edinburgh, Scotland.
